Can I move my Windows key to a new PC?+
Retail Windows keys can generally be transferred to one new PC, as long as you deactivate the license on the old machine first. OEM keys tied to specific hardware can't be moved.
Do I need to reinstall Windows to use this key?+
Only if you don't already have Windows installed. If you're running a trial or an unactivated copy, you can enter the key directly in Settings > Activation.
Will my files be deleted when I activate?+
No. Entering a licence key on an existing Windows install only activates it — your files, apps and settings stay exactly where they are.
